I "remodeled" the 18x18x24 zoomed that houses my breeding pair today.
First I painted the sides and back with flat black paint and I stacked two 12x12 floor tiles parallel to each other at floor level and spaced them apart with a piece of bamboo.
Next I leaned random pieces of bamboo from corner to corner.
Then I made a hide / nocturnal basking spot out of two rectangular pieces of plywood by screwing them together with a 3/4" piece of pine spacing them apart. That way they can get under, between, or on the wood... their choice.
Finally I added a 15" (maybe it's 18"?) piece of 2" or 2 1/2" PVC upright in the back right corner and added a potted pothos in front for even more security.

I checked on them earlier and the male was on the glass while the female was in the back left corner facing down:
And below, from just now - they seem to like my basking spot. That is the female on the wood and the male is on the glass to the right:
