Hello my name is Brian just getting into owning Geckos. I live in Prescott Valley, AZ just recently moved here. I am an avid animal lover (except cats lol) we have a 3 year old Bearded Dragon named Chase. I'm a Metal head, Comic nerd and PC Gamer. I have 2 kids that both love animals and lizards a lot.

I have not purchased a Gecko yet I am waiting until I get enough information and make sure I have all the proper things for a good set up. I have a 25 gallon tank what is the best set for this possible?. I want to make sure my Gecko(s) live a long healthy and happy life. I also have a colony of Dubia Roaches I take care of for my sons dragon are these suitable for Geckos as well??

In that case please take my advice and purchase this below. I would have preferred to recommend an enclosure without the screen top (possibly wood) but unfortunately it can be difficult to find.

Natural Terrarium Large/Low
90 x 45 x 30 cm / 36” x 18” x 12” (WxDxH)

If you can find a long and well designed wooden enclosure in your area, it will be best.

How old is your daughter?

Hello, and welcome to GU. A 25 gallon tank is a great size for a gecko. Dubia roaches work just fine, but there is always crickets and mealworms to feed them as well for a variety. If you are planning on getting a leopard gecko, which I think would be a great pet for the family, I recommend at least a moist hide(eco earth/coconut fiber misted daily in a deli container) and a dry hide(can be decorative). You will need a water dish. A heat lamp, and a udt(under tank heater) will be needed, and I recommend using a thermometer to keep an eye on the temperatures. For substrates you can use Tile, Reptile-carpet, paper towel, newspaper, and sand. Sand does have risk of impaction, so if you do go with sand, feed your gecko with a food dish to prevent the gecko eating sand by accident while hunting for food. Do not use calcium sand!! The calcium in the sand encourages the gecko to eat the sand therefore leading to impaction. So there you have it:) there are many different set ups and methods that other gecko owners use that you can check out. Leopard geckos are the way to go, they come in many different patterns, fun to look at, and if handled correctly, very tame. Best of luck ;)
