I'm looking into getting some of these as feeders for our little leo. Right now Tree's diet is all roaches and he/she LOVES them. Tree really love to chase them.

My question is. Are these good for Leos? If they are how often can I feed them? Are they l ike butter or wax worms?

Phoenix worms are very high in calcium and can be served as a staple. The cons are that they can get expensive and your Leo's might not eat them.

Edit: you do not need to dust the Phoenix worms with calcium.

Both of my leos love them. My only issue is that I live in Las Vegas so I have to be very careful to not have them shipped directly to my home in the summer. I did that once and all of my Phoenix worms were dead on arrival. I wish my local pet stores carried them so I wouldn't have to worry about temps.

The Phoenix Worm Store does have a special instruction section when ordering so that they will hold them at the post office for you if you order during colder or warmer temperatures.

You can check out the Phoenix Worm Store for nutitional information, but I believe they are much better than butter or wax worms and can be used as a healthy staple for your leo.

I'd recommend getting medium reptiworms. I've bought large phoenix worms and they were about the same size as the medium reptiworms and very scrawny. The med reptiworms will give you the same size as the larges but they will not be pupating as quickly which means they will last longer. I'd also suggest a wine cooler, as fridge temps will kill them and at room temp they will last maybe 2 weeks. They are a nice staple, pretty good calcium levels, but some animals have trouble digesting them as they near pupation as the skin is kinda tough. The white grub stage I've not noticed any issues with but I still prick them for easier digestion.
