Black Soldier Fly Larva?

I've never heard of these guys until today on craigslist someone is offering the larva for sale, and the first recommended reason for buying them is for leopard geckos. Just curious if anyone has ever used these for their leos??? Seems like more of a hassle....I can just imagine them flying all over my apartment....

If you do a search, there are tons of threads about them. The larvae are fed, not the flies (which are harmless anyway).

haha harmless but I don't want them buzzing around my head while I watch tv I was doing a little bit of research about how their soul purpose as flies is to breed so i assume they don't last long. I think i may stick to just dubia roaches and mealworms....but we shall see I will definitely search around on here. still new to this stuff.

Black Soldier Fly Larvae are pretty much just Phoenix worms without the coprywritten name.

They are maggots. Plain and simple. We just give them fancy names... Black soldier fly larvea or even fancier Phoenix worms... To make us feel better about paying a fortune for them. :lol: The biggest difference is what the larvae are feed. I just don't want to know. Gross.
I have used Phoenix worms and Reptiworms. One of my Leo's will eat either one fine, but the other won't touch the reptiworms. She spits them out. I, as the only person in my house that will touch them, prefer the Phoenix worms. The bedding smells better and is easier to deal with on the Phoenix worms. Strictly personal preference.
Buy a small number to try first to see what you and your Leo's prefer.
