Hi all,
I have a 2 year old healthy gecko that has always been eating well. He has 8 - 14 mealworms, or 1-2 silkworms every 2 days. I've tried crickets numerous times, but he has no interest in chasing them, even if the back legs are off. He also has bad aim, so I think he gets frustrated too easily. He gets the occasional waxworm (twice a month) as a treat. When he was younger, he ate from a bowl no problem, but now will only eat if I drop in the mealworm in one at a time.
Yesterday I cleaned his cage in the morning, when it's usually done once every 1-2 weeks in the evening. He didn't eat yesterday (3 days from his last feeding), even though there were silkworms, and mealworms offered. I also tried waxworms which he ignored. I normally wouldn't worry but he last ate Oct 8, and shed Oct 9 and I'm going away and will not be back until Oct 19. Someone will check him 2 times in the week, to refill his water and give him some mealworms (in a bowl, couldn't convince anyone to actually feed 1 at a time :lol
and few waxworms).
My question is: Did changing the time of day that his cage was cleaned enough to stress him out, and how long could this last? Will he still be ok if he hasn't eaten for 11 days?
