Fruit beetle grubs

Since getting waxworms is a waste (they turn into moths before we can finish even half the tub) and hornworms aren't available here, I've got a tub of fruit beetle grubs! Eclair is obviously too small to have any yet but I'm going to see if Donut wants any later, I'll post the results :3

I've set up a little leopard gecko playfield/maze that I made out of cardboard so I'm planning on having the grub waiting for him at the end of it. I'll see if I can get any good photos of that, if he likes it :)

You could try putting your waxworms inside the fridge to cool them off and slow down their metabolism to prevent them from morphing to fast. Other than that you could just cut off the wings and give them to your gecko. I have a myriad of animals that love munching on moths :D

So I've heard but unfortunately we live at my boyfriend's parents' house right now and they won't allow any bugs around the house :/ Only the bedroom is bug-zone

Hmm seeing your location, it must be cool right now? How bout by the window? I'm guessing that's chilly enough

Haha omg why did I never think of that? Clever!

Anyway, Donut had some fleeting interest in the fruit beetle grub, as they move a lot but he would sort of just lick it and then walk away several times. He's such a picky eater :/

I'm getting set up for my banana roach colony! :)

Looking into these sun beetles and it seems it's illegal to have non native species in the US so unfortunately they are not available here. However, on the cham and frog forums, several people have said they have a nasty painful bite. I don't feed supers for that very reason.

Majahawt- has Donut eaten any yet? I bought butters for Edgar and he ate 8 and wouldn't touch them after that.

I heard they have a nasty bite too, so I trimmed its fangs... I don't know if he's eaten it because I'm away but I doubt it. He was very interested in the fact that it was moving so much but he wasn't very impressed after licking it. They kinda throw up every time they get agitated or whatever so they get all goopy, it might've just been a not very appetising flavour :/

Yesterday we gave him one without trimming its fangs so it didn't throw up all over itself and he VERY happily ate it!
