Shedding issue

Hi there.

I recently got a new girl whose previous owners said she had been shedding for a few days.

I know this isn't usual so I placed her in an ice cream container with a little bit of luke water (only about .5cm high - should it have been higher? Scared of drowning her) and placed it on her warm side (not directly under the bulb as it is quite low so I placed it off to the side).

However this hasn't worked. I checked yesterday when I came home to give her fresh water, and the skin is still there.

I haven't been home today but I am going home in the morning to feed her before work, and I have a feeling it will still be there. So I would have had her a total of three days tomorrow and that whole time the skin has still been there.

Any tips on how to get it off? I'm worried about it causing damage - or will it be fine?

It's on her head, but her eyes still open and close - it's around.

Also she's not used to be handled so it is very hard to hold her for long periods of time.

I would try to use a q tip to rub off the shed. Be gentle though. I know you said she doesnt like being handled so it could take a couple attempts. If she gets to nervous then let her take a break. Or ive seen some people place a large clean rock in the tank so the gecko can rub the shed off itself. I would try using the rock first so she can learn to remove her own shed. If its still there in a day or two then use the q tip method.

Yup I will definitely try that tomorrow when I get home from work - I do have a rock for her to use (came with her but I didn't put in tank). How can I teach her to rub on the rock?

Thanks!
