Hello,
I just got my couple klemmeri's at 7 december 2014. They are about 1 year old.
Normally they are very calm en relaxed, but today the male was running all day and was moving with his tale. Don't know what this is, it's like he is waving his tale...

Also i noticed that my female is 'fatter' than the male. I've got a couple of photo's for you.

Maybe you can tell me what this behaviour is and if the female is carrying eggs..

Is you don't understand me, i'm from holland ;)

Phelsuma klemmeri will wave their tails at one another, often shortly after introducing them to one another. I have seen males do this far more often and it could be agonistic behavior or how they communicate. The prominent waving seems to be unique to this species, though other Phelsuma will wiggle their tail, often in breeding or agonistic interactions. I think they are too young to be housed together. For breeding and keeping the female long term, I would wait until she is mature. If kept correctly, you will have no problem breeding them when they are mature. This is best for the female. It can actually be hard to get them to stop! Congratulations on your acquisitions!

... and yes, I think the female is wearing eggs ;)! P. klemmeri is indeed the species with the largest behavioural repertoire inside of the genus Phelsuma. I keept them for more than a decade and am still regularly surprised again with descovering some new behaviour! Waving their tale is just one example of it.

Hello all! I recently acquired a group of P.klemmeri and have noticed some interesting behavior. Anyone else hear their klems chirping? My male (I think its him) will sometimes make a cricket like sound while he is trying to impress one of his females. These guys have to be the boldest, most charismatic species of gecko in the world!
