I was able to get a definite length on a 55 gram female. 8.5" around 8 months old and coming up on another shed. How big can a female get and when will she likely fill out?
That seems right. I've tried dusted wax worms. Nothing, no arm pit bubbles, fatty liver, she's slender and moves quick but is going to be 9". Just going to have to watch for a slow down.
Wax worms arent all that nutritious. Do what you wish, as im sure you already know this, but your gecko will be stronger and grow healthier if you dont feed her wax worms.
Even using wax worms to fatten a gecko up isnt the best in my opinion. At least if you feed them wax worms as a staple diet its not the right way. If it were me I would feed a normal diet of dubias, crickets, and/or meal worms and maybe 1 wax worm per week at the max. This is my opinion. But there have been cases where geckos become addicted to wax worms and wont eat anything else. This is my opinion, you are free to do as you wish
Kholtme is right. Waxworms are just fat. They're not going to put "meat" on an animal just like ice cream and candy won't put "meat" on an underweight kid. You feed more nutritious food and their bodies will grow. Leopard@1 you have a baby for goodness sakes and a female at that. Females just don't get bulky and heavy like males do. They have smaller bone structure, are usually much trimmer and active, and don't put on weight as quick as males do. There is nothing wrong with her. She is growing and unless she starts losing weight, just enjoy watching her turn into a beautiful adult. If you want to see the trials of having an adorable little girl, check out majahawt 's thread "not gaining weight" and you will see everything is normal. You two seem to be going thru the same things just about.
A lot of this is simply not dealing with leopard geckos before. None the less she is cool to watch grow. I guess most of my worry comes from not having any records on her. Sorry for the "duplicate" thread.
