Its a boy?

Since I have gotten my crested gecko, I never was actually able to tell his age (although he was very much bigger than his former tank mates, I had no accurate age), therefore I was never able to tell how close to sexual maturity he was. Recently I was noticing he began to develop a larger vent, but I know that even females are able to have bigger vents so it was no accurate sign. I have been checking him for the tell take black spots on the scales beneath his vent, and when I checked him today I noticed there were in fact the little black spots that dotted there. I am unsure if there is any other way to tell he is male, although I am hoping he is so i don't have to deal with any eggs, but is this enough confirmation riley is a boy or is there anything else I should check?
