This gecko was found in some plants that came into a business. It's not my gecko but I'm trying to help I.D. it. If anybody has any thoughts please pass them along so we can get the proper care for this gecko.

Sorry for the blurry pics they're not mine.

Thanks for any suggestions you have.

Thanks for the reply Hilde. After checking the link that you sent me and looking up a bunch of pics I think there are some differences. It looks as if the gecko in the attached pic has the 'adhesive' type of feet similar to Cresties. The Kotschyi geckos look to have more slender feet/toes like you see on more ground dwelling geckos. Although the banding is almost identical. Except for the tail although that may be due to age.

I also notice little spikes on the tails of the Kotschyi and didn't see them on the gecko posted. Although that may have to do with the photo or the age of the animal as well. But the feet seem to tell me that it's a climbing gecko. Let me know if you can see what I'm referring to.

Thanks ... Dyesub Dave.

Looks like Hemidactylus mabouia to me.

I just got a response from another forum that suggested the same thing. Although it seems the pattern can be all over the place there are some pics that look almost exactly the same. Especially with the tail banding.

Thanks for the reply.

This is definitely a Hemidactylus, I'm 100% positive on it. Could well be a mabouia but there are so many variations in mabouia that it's hard to tell for sure, at least for me.
