Everyone on here has recommended I order a thermostat from The Bean Farm, stating you can get the cheaper from this site online.....lmfao
so on everyone's advice.....

I just made an order online for a few items.
My total was 102.20
shipping of 44.55
it said the grand total would be 146.75.
Can you tell me why my card was charged 189.17?
Why would that not be on the total before I confirmed my order and entered my credit card info?
This is an extra charge of 42.42 that was not shown anywhere on there before I made my purchase and entered my payment info.

Just thought I would share this information because people need to know that their total charge on their credit card could be a lot more than what the total says, so make sure you have the extra on your card to cover an unknown amount that is not stated BEFORE you enter your payment information.

Luckily enough this was on a visa debit and I had the extra amount in there to cover it. Also luckily enough this did not totally scr** me over with the extra money now gone from this acount.

BUT IF I HAD KNOWN IT WOULD COST ME THIS MUCH MONEY (86.97extra)? I WOULD HAVE JUST BOUGHT THESE ITEMS AT MY LOCAL PET STORE!!!!!!

I am definitely NOT IMPRESSED by them AT ALL!!!

There is a forum for this type of review in Fauna Classifieds? (its been a while).

They are pricey, I wouldn't give them any business either if that helps.

I know that the us dollar to canadian dollar is about that much (a few dollars cheaper), but the point was that before charging the total it should have converted it first and then said so BEFORE charging a persons credit card the extra (making people unaware of the real grand total being charged is bs).
Just not impressed with the whole thing. but live and learn I guess...lol.
Thank God that was all that was needed and I will not have to order from them again...lol

Well you also might be pointing the finger at the wrong institution. Conversion Rates and International Fees, ETC...can be the credit card company and not the retailer also it can possibly be the retailers bank.

True enough. Credit given there. BUT, again there is nothing anywhere in the shipping info or on the reciept that says this could happen. (that is what I got upset about). Had it said..."additional charges may be applied for __" it would be different. but what it stated was that they would calculate my total shipping charges/etc after entering my address. Which is canadian so therefor it could have warned that (they charge a higher fee than my card does for conversion) as well as total cost and shipping cost. To make people be warned...lol
Idk... it all just seems pretty darn sneaky to me, to not say the total amount being put on a card at the time of confirmation.

Some people tend to max out cards and something like this could really cost them big time.
So I just wanted to basically let people in Canada know that this could happen to them, so be prepared that the total is not what is charged... (if you olny have a certain amount left on your card then leave room for the extra just in case type of thing)...lol.

hey folks - keep this on the Fauna BOI. this site is not for business reviews (tho product reviews are OK in the correct subforum).
