Crested Gecko Terrarium Size

So I have had a crested gecko for 13 months now(his name is cocoa). He weighs 24 grams and I would like to upgrade his 12x12x18 inch terrarium to a 18x18x24 inch one. Is he old enough for me to do the upgrade or would the larger terrarium be to big for him? Will he still be able to find his food?

You can upgrade him no problem. I moved mine into the same size tanks at about a year old. Just make sure you give enough cover for him to feel safe and place his food off the ground and he'll find it. I use the mag naturals ledges to feed mine

Thanks! Though about the food I have always placed his food in a specific spot on the ground of his terrarium and I think I'm gonna try it again with the bigger tank. If he has trouble finding it then I'll move it onto a ledge holder.

These guys are arboreal so they shouldn't be feeding on the ground unless they are eating live bugs. Imo I like feeding mine higher so i don't have to worry about them accidentally tipping the cgd and getting substrate in it and eating it.

eh, I feed mine their cgd on the ground. I have a little grouping of small stones that I set the dish on.

Mine have their food dishes at ground level. The dishes are placed on something to raise them off the floor a wee bit, keeps the substrate from getting mixed in. I've used small chunks of marble, slate, tile, or the like. For hatchlings, I put the dish (a lid) inside a coconut shell. There's enough room to cling to the inside of the shell while eating.
Even wild ones will eat down there. Bugs don't always climb up trees and shrubs. They eat overripe fruit, which, in all likelihood, has fallen to the ground.

As for the tank being too big, it's pretty much impossible, considering how well the manage in the wild, which is a much bigger area than we give them. Check this thread for more info: " http://www.geckosunlimited.com/comm...lophus-rhacodactylus-ciliatus/79558-tank.html "

If hatchlings can manage to find food in a 55 or 65 gallon enclosure, I'm sure an adult won't have any problems managing in a 30 gallon enclosure.
