Oak Tree Root

I am in the process of setting up a more natural vivarium for my crested gecko. I have a root from an oak tree that I thought would be a cool addition, but need to know if there would be a problem with oak? I know cedar is off limits, but can't find anything about oak. Also, would I need to seal the wood and does the wood have to be sanded smooth? I have boiled and baked the wood so far.

Oak is perfectly fine to use.

Oak has a lot of tannins which may stain surfaces red/brown, including cement, so it might tint your glass if its resting upon it. Tannins are fine for the lizards, so it is safe still, just be warned about stains.
