Hi everyone!
With winter approaching quickly, I have been eager to kick-start my geckos' feeding responses again, since they have been slowing down and more reluctant to eat (despite having the proper temperatures and humidity.)
Therefore, I have expanded their diet to include some alternates to the traditional Repashy & Pangea MRPs (which make up the bulk of their diet.)
My geckos are not fans of straight-up banana, as I have tried on multiple occasions to get them to eat it to no avail, so I have crossed that off of the list of possible foods for them.
Here is the list of foods I have tried and plan on trying:
T-Rex Sandfire Super Foods Crested Gecko MRP.
Guaranteed Analysis: Crude Protein (min) - 25.0%, Crude Fat (min) - 1.5%, Crude Fiber (max) - 10.0%, Moisture (max) - 8.0%, Ash 8.0%.
This MRP was not at all enjoyed by any of my 8 cresteds, but it was only about $9 so I wasn't too heartbroken. For a company allegedly connected to Repashy, the results were disappointing.
Zilla Reptile Munchies Fruit Mix
Ingredients: Freeze Dried Apples, Freeze Dried Bananas, Freeze Dried Strawberries, Freeze Dried Peaches, Freeze Dried Pears, Freeze Dried Mangoes, Freeze Dried Blueberries
This fruit mix was a surprise hit with the cresteds! They really enjoyed this food, and it was a nice alternative to cutting up your own fruit, since all you have to do is rehydrate the cubes of fruit in water before serving. I would highly recommend this as a treat.
Zoo Med Crested Gecko Food, Adult Formula
Guaranteed Analysis: Crude Protein (min) 27.0%, Crude Fat (min) 7.0%, Crude Fiber (max) 5.0%, Moisture (max) 9.0%, Calcium (min) 1.4%, Calcium (max) 1.8%, Phosphorus (min) 0.7%
I have not yet tried this food, but I will update this thread once I have the results.
Zoo Med Day Gecko Food
Guaranteed Analysis: Crude Protein (min) 12%.
I have not yet tried this food, but I will update this thread once I have the results. (I am initially serving this food mixed with water, instead of dry as suggested by Zoo Med. I will be serving the food dry during the next feeding of this food.)
