Is Chlorhexidine safe to use for cleaning?

Hello all, first off I apologize if this is the wrong forum for this thread, which it very well might be.
I am looking into doing some full on cleaning of all of my hero enclosures and was wondering if anybody has used Chlorhexidine as an antiseptic/bactericide in their own cages? I have heard some good things about it from multiple sources but I want to be 100% sure I'm not going to harm any of my "babies"
This is where I will be pushing the boundaries of wrong forum... I have two 20gal long tanks for my Leos, a 40 gallon breeder for the ball python, and a 48"*24"*24" Animal Plastics cage for my Rainbow Boa. Is this stuff safe in all 4 enclosures or only some? The other question, is this something I will need to rinse off heavily? The 20s will not be horribly difficult to rinse, the others would be.

Any input/insight will be greatly appreciated!

Chlorehexidine is considered a safe and effective disinfectant by many reptile keepers as well as herp veterinarians. I personally recommend rinsing thoroughly afterwards, but it shouldn't be too much of an issue. Though it's safe, you can always use other (just as effective) products if you still don't feel totally comfortable with the idea of using this one. I personally have never used this particular type of disinfectant so hopefully someone who has comes along and confirms what I've said.

Thanks for the input! I've seen it highly touted but was hoping to pick the brain of someone who has used it. Firsthand advice always trumps some general info sheet on the internet in my book.
As for the rinsing, my wet/dry vacuum may be in for a workout :coverlaugh:
Thanks again!
