Question on cool side of tank

Hello! I will be getting a leopard gecko very shortly, and I was setting up my tank today. However, I do have a problem. My parents keep the house very cool during hot days, normally it can range from 64-67 degrees Fahrenheit. I have a 29 gallon tank, and a heat mat that takes up half of the tank. The heat is right, however where I will put the cool hide it gets too cold, around 68 degrees. I was wondering if it would be ok if I placed the cool hide near the heater so it can get up to 70-75 degrees?

70 degrees is an alright temperature for the cool side, a few drops shouldn't be too bad, though you can certaintly get a ceramic heat emiter to produce heat without light and heat up the cool side just a little bit. :)

Having the cool side a little 'cooler than normal' at times is no problem at all, aslong as you ensure the warm side is indeed warm enough its good.

The key is that the Gecko has a range of choices in terms of temp/humidity so that it can regulate as its needs dictate.
