My year old female leopard gecko has been walking around with one closed eye for some time. At first she had something in it and I was able to flush it out. But she has been keeping her eye closed now there is a film on the eye. Today I noticed that both eyes are messed up. It looks like in one the eye has a film on it and there is a little red spot she can not close that eye now.. In the other eye it is swolen and the pupil isn't straight. Here are some pictures right after I put in saline drops in her eyes. After the drops are in she opens her eyes. What could it be? And how should I go about treating it? She lost some weight and is very lethargic.

I looked around online and people say Leo's can loose weight because they are going around with their eyes closed. Any idea what can cause the eye problems? What could cause an eye infection. She has a parter and she's fine nice size and beautiful. The only change is that they were recently moved to a larger tank. I use faux grass as a substrate and their hides are lined with paper towels.

Thanks for the advice. I did take her to the vet and he said the problem is caused by shed skin becoming trapped in her eyes. He prescribed medicated eye drops 2-3 times a day until the problem goes away. And said she will have to be force fed until she starts to eat on her own. Within a day some of the shed began to break down and chunks of the shed started to come out of one eye. However her right eye is still really cloudy. He also recommended that I place her in warm water up to her legs for a few minutes a day and gently use a qtip to gently rub her body and eyes with warm water. I hope she gets better because the rims of her eyes are swollen and she keeps them closed almost all the time.
