Seasonal Behavior and Scab? Also slightly overweight gecko...

Hi all,

For the past couple days Alan (leopard gecko) hasn't been going into his hides like he usually does. He is never deprived of water or food and has a plump tail. Fall is beginning where I live and my room has been colder because it took some time for our heat to kick in. His mat temp. read 83 degrees so I put a towel over the tank to make it warmer. Last time I checked it was at 89 degrees. Is he acting normal? Do Leos act different due to change in weather?

On the other hand, I was handling him earlier, and I noticed that there was this sort of orange/brown stripe thing on his side. I switched him from hand feeding to hunting so at first I thought it was a cricket bite but a quick google search proved me wrong. I check his nostrils, fingers, tail and belly regularly to make sure there are no areas of concern, so before I take him to the vet, I wanted to know if maybe it was a scab and if this is normal and if I can resolve it at home.

I also noticed that he has armpit bubbles and I'm wondering what I can do to get rid of those and make him leaner overall. I feed him on Mondays and Thursdays and I never give him mealworms or waxworms when I'm home. I only give him mealies when I'm traveling.

Thank you for reading this
-Brooke :)
