Aloe

hey guys, do you think my 8-9 month old gecko would be safe if I put a Aloe plant in a planter and put it in the tank, or are there safer plants? I just want some real greenery.

I haven't ever heard of using an aloe plant, so can't speak to that. Sanseveria is a really good plant to put in a gecko tank. It's safe, and sturdy enough for your gecko to climb on. If you like the look of the aloe plant, you can sometimes find a fake one at Hobby Lobby or similar stores. Maybe someone else can tell you whether the real thing is safe for your gecko.

Do you have a vivarium? I don't, and use fake plants in mine. Thrift stores are a great place to find greenery.

I have frequently used haworthia, which is similar to aloe. It's a good idea to put it in a pot because then you can take the plant out and water it. I assume you have lights in your enclosure for the plant. That's the only reason I don't have potted plants in my leopard gecko enclosures; I don't have lights.

Thanks very much for the replies and suggestions, you guys are awesome. my tank gets lots of sun (don't worry the temp never gets above 92 on the warm side) so plants get a lot of light, I love both of the plants.
