So, my baby leopard gecko named Rose used to be a great eater. She’d suck down mealworms, superworms, calciworms... basically any worm you put in her dish she’d eat. Then, on Christmas Day I decided to treat her and my older one, Firefly. I gave each of them three small waxworms. Rose sucked those suckers down within five minutes and I later found them regurgitated in her cage. No big deal, she ate really fast so it makes sense she puked them up.
But then she stopped eating.
She stopped going to her bowl and even if I put a worm in front of her, she’d ignore it. I thought she might just not want worms anymore, so I bought her small crickets. She’s a terrible hunter, but she does seem to like stalking them (she does the cute tail wag right before striking). She started pooping again and all was well. But then, almost a full day later, she threw up the crickets. Or what looks like their exoskeletons.
This has happened a few times now, and while she is pooping, it’s a bit worrying. The crickets are gutloaded with cricket food, they’re dusted with calcium with d3 every other day, and while they are a tad big (a little bit smaller than her head), she never has a problem swallowing them.
She has pure calcium (zoomed if it matters), she has reptile carpet, three huts (including a moist one with moss- that’s brand new though), a UTH and an overhead that runs on a timer, and the warm side temperatures are always mid to high eighties. She lets me hold her and her belly isn’t hard or bloated, and she still is pooping, but I’m a bit worried.
