In the seven months that I’ve owned a leopard gecko, I have come to learn that they are basically cats- heck, Illusion has actually chased the laser pointer that my temperature gun gives to tell me where I’m pointing. And like cats, they seem to have one single spot they really like. Some are in the hides, some are outside, and some are both. Here are the favorite spots of the ones I care for.
Firefly- during the day, she hides in the hide that I have in the middle of the tank (20 gal). It’s a hide shaped like dinosaur eggs, which I found appropriate because she is like a tiny dinosaur. The eggs all connect to each other, but one of the eggs has no entrances so she hides there during the day. Once evening hits however, she moves to a fake aloe plant I have on her warm side and curls up around it. She used to rest to half of her was on one of the fake leaves and the other half was on the ground.
Illusion- his temple. He absolutely loves it. It’s completely enclosed, to the point where I can’t see more than a quarter inch inside it, which has made me jump when a head lashes out from the darkness to grab a waxworm. The other place he likes is his warm hide- he likes to sleep pressed flat against the floor.
Luna- her warm hide. I rarely see her leave it tbh. Temps are fine, she just really likes her cave. She’ll actually wait there for crickets to run by the entrance before she snaps them up.
Angel- smack dab in the middle of his cage. Sometimes with his hide, sometimes without. He just lays where the heating pad ends. Half on it, half off it.
