Something I’ve noticed recently is that there seems to be a lot of mixed opinions as to whether or not it is a good idea to keep a dish of pure calcium in the tank. I’ve seen both sides of the argument and I personally lean towards the “It’s a good idea” side because I believe that, while they aren’t the smartest creatures around, leos can tell when they need extra calcium and when they do not. After all, they managed to survive in the wild for hundreds of years so there must be some instinct for it.
However, I am curious to see what others opinions are about this. I have my list of pros (the geckos will never suffer MBD because they have ready access to the calcium, you can tell where they’ve moved at night, and they look adorable with calcium on their nose) and cons (they seem to think it’s for digging, its messy as heck, and they can somehow get it in their water dish despite the calcium being on the warm side and the water being on the cool side), but I haven’t had geckos nearly as long as some of you have so I’m just curious.
And to answer the question, I use ZooMed pure calcium- teal label and all.
