Juvenile not eating enough?..

Hi,

I have two small (6g and 8g respectively) leopard geckos who I do not believe are eating sufficiently. They are housed in, separate, 6qt tubs with a 91° hot end and 72-75° cool end. I leave a dish of 10 mealworms in at all times and only notice no more than 1 being eat per day. They are both defecating normally every other day or so. I am wondering if they are eating a normal amount for their size? Possibly uninterested in the mealworms? I have tried 1/4-3/8” Dubias too which are also uneaten. I have had these two for 3 weeks now. Any suggestions welcome.

My first suggestion would be to take them to a vet and get a fecal exam done. I have unfortunately lost three baby geckos to crypto and this is exactly how it started- a decreased appetite.

If they are completely fine, try tong feeding them. My new baby (who is perfectly healthy and eats between 10 and 16 small crickets or mini mealworms a day) is... not very smart. She doesn’t realize that the food comes from the dish- even though she’s walked through said dish before and has looked at said mealworms. My adults won’t eat from their bowl either. All the geckos I’ve looked after have preferred it when I either tong feed or let the insects run around in their cage so they can hunt them.

If that doesn’t work, maybe try something else? Like hornworms or crickets or superworms.

Awesome! Got some crickets to try since they are more “lively”. Also had success this morning with Dubias being coerced in the direction of he gecks with tongs!

The Mack snow albino is raging crickets like a champ. The albino patternless won’t touch meal worms Dubias or crickets. Maybe still getting used to new home? Breeder said he fed exclusively mealworms. It has lost approximately 1 gram in the two weeks I’ve had it.... any suggestions to help it eat? I’ve tried beheading mealworms and crickets and rubbing on nose and it is very flighty and runs instantly.
