Hello to all. I am new to this site. so far all looks great with alot of good info.
our family have kept reptiles for many years now. We have a crestie, an albino milk snake, and now a gold dust day gecko (the geico gecko ) we also have had bearded dragons that were with us for a VERY long time.
Now for my question, I know that day gecko's need UVA and UBV with a basking area.
I would like to know thought's on LED lighting for UVA and UVB. I also have a reef aquarium with lighting that have full spectrums (UV is 420 to 440 spectrum, blue and white lighting with controllable intensity) Will a light like this provide what Yoshi ( day gecko's name) need for UVA and UVB?
I will provide a separate basking light also.
Please and thank you all :)

In my opinion you can provide full spectrum UVA/B any way you want. In addition you'll need a basking spot which I provide with a halogen or xenon puck light. I really enjoy watching my gold dust day gecko zipping through her enclosure during the day. Once my beardie saw her and leapt up to try to eat her!

Welcome to Geckos Unlimited! LEDs may contain inadequate UVB for a Phelsuma laticauda.

In my limited experience, providing UVB is very exacting.

Please see my PM.

On the other hand, Leann Christenson, who wrote "Day Geckos in Captivity" felt that day geckos could get adequate D3 through supplementation, which I did successfully for many years. I don't know if she still feels this way, since I bought her book at least 15 years ago.

Hello Aliza ~

Leann's book is one resource I can put my hands on quite easily. However, I've lost contact with Leann.
