I've mostly kept what would be classified as "exotics" and find it frustrating that non traditional appears to be anything besides farm animals, cats and dogs. Most of my pets have been birds, rodents, rabbits and now a gecko.
In North Carolina, where I used to live,a good exotics Vet was just over the bridge, now, not so much. In a perfect world,I feel a large group of creatures should be moved out of the "exotic" category and moved to
the traditional pet area...But that would mean a longer time in medical school for aspiring students,so I'm not holding my breath here.
So finding quality care for pets other than dogs and cats I see as remaining in a gray area.
