The numbers represent sex ratios.
For example if I had 2 males, 5 females, and 3 unsexed, then it would read 2.5.3

"the word" is not a scientific term, IT IS the name of the animal you are talking about. It is easier to know what animal you are talking about when you use the animals real name:Example, Phelsuma abbotti instead of "I have a green day gecko"
