Hello!

I have had Goldens for years, so here are the Questions...

-How long have you had him?
-What are you currently trying to feed him?
-Have you tried fruit (such as mashed bananna) or a Meal replacement diet such as Repashy Crested gecko food?
-Have you tried a dish of insects such as roaches or crickets with the hind legs removed?
-Temperatures?

Acctually, aside from the empty stomach, that boy has a fat tail-base, you just have to start offering fruit foods I'll bet.

I have had him for a year now and i have never really seen him eat to much, i feed him crickets, meal worms and i tried 3 butter worms but i dunno if he actually ate them or not, i tried some apple sauce but i don't think he ate that, temp right now in the tank is like 81-82 in the hot spot and about 72-73 in the cold spot. And no i havent tried removing the hind legs

Start treating him like a Crested gecko and he will come around. Seeings as there is little as far as care sheets on this species, and a lot on the ever popular Crested, I believe if you pretend you have the most Golden Crestie ever, he will start to do better.

I meant removing the legs of the crickets so that they can jump from the dish, but actually the legs are quite spiny and the geckos dont like them anyway.

geckos cricket question

wait a minute! i dont want to go around pulling of cricket legs! my tokay gecko seems fine with cricket legs. i had a mediteranean house lizard, 2 of them, but one escaped and one died. it was for no apparent reason. i was doing just as i was doing with my tokay. what happened do you think?:?

My friend takes crickets with tweasers and burns them with a lighter. and some animals dont like the legs yours may not care

The male on the pic is well nourished. No need to worry, if this condition is stable. They do not need more than 5-6 feederitems per week to keep their weight and stay active. Also they are secretive feeders sometimes.
