Kitty Won't Leave My Leos Alone!

Back in May we welcomed as little black kitty into my household. My late cat and my tom had always lived in harmony with my two Leos Small Fry and Commada (a juvenile male and a old as dirt ex classroom pet female). The kitten had pretty much ignored my Leos for the longest time.

Then recently I woke up to find my lid of my tank knocked off and their habitat trashed and a little black kitty looking up at me. :yikes:

Not a good way to wake up.

Luckily my Leos were smart enough to dart into their big house to escape the onslaught of the intruder.

As of now, I have a rock sitting on top of the screen while I track down a clamping lid for my tank so that she can't knock it off again.

But now she won't leave the poor things alone. Sitting on top of the tank, clawing at the lid, and just being a all around pest to my Leos.

My Leos are absolutely terrified and won't come out of their house, not eating and are completely stressed and I've taken to locking the kitten up when I leave.

I do use spray bottle training with my cats, and started it with the kitten when she even nears the Leos, but she ignores it and goes back to tormenting my poor babies.

Anyone got any tips to keep them off the menu.

They make scat mats which give out a tiny electrical impluse when stepped on that could be put on top of the lid.
What I did years ago was placed the really tiny mouse traps (2) on top of the lid, covered with about 5-6 layers of newspaper. When the kitty jumps up the traps will go off with no harm to the kitty but will scare the bajezums out of him/her :yikes:, mine never came back, just would sit infront of the tank and look.

You might have to move the leos to a location that the cat can't get to.

And one that worked but not before she got into the tank one last time when I was coming back with the new lid and caused both leos to drop their tails.

Now tank has a new screen with locking door and screen clips and offically cat proofed.

I suggest relocating your leos' terrarium(s) behind a closed door. I keep my leos in my bedroom, and they've never been bothered.

my cat and leos live safely in my bedroom. i just don't allow her in my room when im not there, and i throw her off and out when she gets on top of the lid. eventually she learned not to mess with them.

Thats how mine usually are, but kitten just... Just being Demon Spawn right now. ANd the tank is kept in my bedroom but the door is broken to where anything can nudge it open and its hard to put a 29/30 gallon tank anywhere else besides on its stand.

Well Commanda came with a 10 gallon tank and I felt bad for her for being in such a small tank. I had leos in the past but I had sold the big tank I had for them cause I was just starting high school and didn't want any critters until I was in college.

So I went and got a good sized one in case I wanted a couple of more females, and thats when I got Small Fry this December for my birthday.

And my sister named Small Fry because he was just a baby and was so cute. That was until he bit her, now she calls him the El Diabo (a name I call for when I do get another gecko), and doesn't think he's cute anymore.
