Crested Gecko: Using heat pads as main source of heat?

I'm planning on getting a Crested Gecko and I was thinking since I have a 20" long tank, why don't I flip it. The only problem was heating so I thought I could use heating pads all over the tank. I asked people at my exotic pet store, a really good one, Fauna NYC if you've heard of it and they said I could do it. All of the store is way more expensive than any Petco so I'm getting the same supplies there (just another way to save money). I wouldn't know what size heating pads to get since it would be its only heat source. I was planning on putting one on the top, I have a without it flipped, 30" long, 12" high and deep terrarium so I was thinking to just cover the whole entire side with a 8"X12" heating pad on the top of one of the sides with a perch that has food and a hide. Then another one on the bottom. Is that correct or should I do something else? Can I use the heat pads??? Thanks:D

In general, most people don't need any extra heating for crested geckos (unless your house stays really cold). You might want to review their care requirements.

I have a crestie and they do need a little heat. Not as much as a leo tho but a heat mat at the bottom won't work well because heat rises. You want the light and heat lamp on top so that the bottom is the cooler end, So like low 83 under the light all the way down to 70. Here is a pic and a caresheet.

You can attach a heat pad on one side of the terrarium. NOT under the bottom. It works well because your crestie will be able to choose the appropriate temp it needs. An alternative way is to place a ceramic red light bulb to provide heat from above.
