My leo just pooped and the poop was fine, however the urates were half white half light yellow. They are usually only white. Concerned why. I've had her over a year. Never happened before. Could it be because I recently switched her back to crickets instead of mealworms? She ate after she pooped and is acting normally. Thank you so much

There are a few items you need to add to your husbandry list. She may just be a little dehydrated. I'm going to look over your questionnaire now. No, it has nothing to do with crickets. There's a good chance it's due to the unregulated UTH. That's just one of the reasons a thermostat is important.

I was looking into a thermostat, but my UTH never gets very warm so I didn't. That's why I use a heat light to balance it. You can put your hand on the carpet and its not very warm to the touch. Also I've had the heating pad like that for quite awhile and this is the first time this urate thing has happened.

Our body temp is about 98.6, it will not feel very warm to us, but to them it will. The temperature never remains the same. It increases as the day gets warmer. The temperatures are increasing. No human thermostats please, it doesn't work that way. Look at the other thread.

Another reason for thermostats is to prevent the UTH from overheating. It may not get very warm, but it's not unheard of for them to malfunction and get extremely hot; a thermostat prevents that from happening.

Also, make sure you're using filtered water in your humid hide. I've more than once heard of geckos not using humid hides that have tap water in them, but then being happy to use them once the switch is made.

I use my fridge filtered water, and she loves the humid hide. Anyone recommend a decently priced thermostat?

I think it is the most important purchase I got. I had TWO heatpads malfunction on me, however one of them melted right thru and left burn marks on my dresser. this could have caused a fire. Thermostats help me rest easy knowing my family is safe from fire.

I would add more insects to his diet such as roaches/phoenixworms/silkworms/butterworms/hornworms. are you gutloading the crickets and mealworms properly?
I believe yellow urates mean it is due to dehydration, what are the humidity levels like in his enclosure?

I ordered a Zilla 1000 watt last night so I'm waiting on that. I do gut load them properly. And my humidity says about 35% right now over the water bowl. I've seen her drink and I also mist her and she licks that sometimes. I'll try to get more water in her and see. This is the first time it's happened
