How often does a leo shed?

I think this is the right forum...

I'm wondering how often an adult leo sheds. Everything I've seen so far just says juveniles shed more often than adults. But how often? I don't know the age of my leo, but she seems to shed every two weeks. Is this a lot? Tonight will be the third time I've had to remove shed from her toes in the month I've had her, lol. Definitely need to invest in some shed ease. Does that stuff actually work?

I can't comment on the Shed Ease, but if your leo is struggling to shed, I'd suggest you need to check his humidity.

Is his humid hide warm and moist all the time?
Is your general air really dry (my Daff had issues when I got carried away with my dehumifiyer in my flat)?

I've never used "shed-ease" before so I have no input there either. I would however recommend a gecko sauna to help you remove the stuck shed. All you need is an old Tupperware with holes punched in it. Line it with some paper towels and add some lukewarm water in so that it's wet but not flowing out. You want the paper towel to absorb the water but you don't want excess water. Place your gecko inside and close the lid. This creates a humidity chamber that will help you remove the shed around the toes with a lot less stress as the stuck shed will be much more pliable. Leave your gecko in for about 10 mins and then help him remove the shed with a damp q-tip or tweezers (Be very careful with tweezers).
I would definitely make sure you're providing enough humidity in your humid hide. The humid hide should also be on the warm side of your enclosure above the heat mat.
As far as frequency of shedding, as adults they generally shed less since their bodies aren't growing anymore. Usually adults will shed about once to twice a month.

Thanks for the replies. I was wondering about the shedding as a way of figuring out how old she was as well, so going off what you guys are saying she is probably an adult. Wish I knew exactly how many years though...

The humidity in my tank usually hovers a little over 50%. The humidity here is pretty moderate, no desert but no rain forest either. She does have a warm moist hide filled with moss. I check it twice a day and spray it down when needed. I'm not sure if she ever goes in it though.

I gave her a bath earlier in the week and was able to get the shed off via q-tip and my own fingernails. She was strangely cooperative...must be getting used to the baths haha. But yeah, I don't want to go through this every 2 weeks. It's not any fun for either of us, really! But perhaps it's just part of being a gecko owner? I have a 30 gift card to petsmart (took back the national geographic infrared thermometer I mentioned in a another post. Do not recommend, way inaccurate) but can't think of anything else they have that I need. Might as well buy a bottle and give it a try...
