hi all!

i'm new to the site but not new to caring for geckos. i have a leopard gecko which i raised from a couple of weeks. she is 3 yrs old and very healthy. i've decided to get a new gecko and i want it to be a leaftail.

i was wondering if anyone knows of a breeder in canada who has U. sikorae (mossy) or U. henkeli. i've heard of neil meister who is a leaf tail breeder but i have no idea how to contact him... does he have a web site?

thanks guys

He is your best bet, but I have not seen him advertise in a while. Try to find him because he practices very good husbandry so you will get healthy geckos.

Nice to see a fellow Canadian on the forum. I just picked up a female henkeli to go with my two males. The second night I had her I witnessed her mating with my WC male. I'm not sure how long it will take her to lay but I think it's around a month or so. Maybe someone else can comment and give a more exact answer. I hatched lineatus and phantasticus this year as well as various species of Phelsuma. I hope to add another Uroplatus to the list. If you are interested send me a PM but just so you know it will be around four months before they hatch and that's if everything goes perfectly. I am not trying to discourage you from doing business with Neil by no means, I have never met a better herpetaculturist. If you do cantact him let me know as I would like a few animals from him as well. It will cut the cost of shipping in half. I live in Oshawa, half an hour from Toronto and would pick them up when they arrive.

To be honest, I would suggest an intermediate gecko rather than going straight from a leopard to a leaf-tail. A gecko like any of the rhacodactylus species would work great.

i have to agree with justin. leaftails are tough, and a leopard is...well...basic to be honest. i would definetly proscribe a crownie or rhacodactylus...

well, best of luck either way...

As long as you have an ubderstanding of the requirements and dont skip any steps I am sure you will do fine. When you set them up right, they are a pleasure and I am sure you will want more.
