What are you interested in hearing about?

Hi everyone -

Nathan has asked me to give a presentation at the symposium and I'm debating different topics, but would most enjoy giving a talk that you all are interested in.

Here are my preliminary topics:

Evolution and Husbandry of Hemidactylus
The Natural History and Captive Husbandry of Malagasy Phyllodactyls (Ebenavia, Matoatoa, Paroedura, Uroplatus - with an emphasis on Paroedura)
Gecko Feet (Diversity, Specialization, Evolution, Physics)

Many of you who know me should be aware of my interest in evolution and ecology, so whatever I talk about I will focus heavily on these topics. Let me know what you all think, and I hope I can approach you all for additional information and photos.

Cheers.

malagasy

I thought this talk would get the most attention.

I am very interested in this radiation of geckos but must confess I have limited experience with non-Paroedura species (none with Ebenavia and Matoatoa - for obvious reasons - they're super rare). I primarily avoided Uroplatus because I have yet to find myself in a situation amenable to their care and propagation (too hot), but I was successful with U. henkeli and ebenaui - the latter unfortunately perished during a hot Atlanta summer when the AC broke down.

I will do my best to assemble the most detailed and useful info for the species with which I am not familar. This forum has tons of members who have been very successful with all of these geckos and it is the synergy of their success that will make any talk enjoyable and informative.

Marcus - I would be a fool to miss a convention in my own backyard. Those of you have never visisted Austin are going to love it. The best decision I ever made was deciding to come here for school.

I think everything you have mentioned would be cool to hear about, but the gecko feet would be super cool :)

Hi Dan ~

I join Andrew G in casting my vote for Gecko Feet. Now that's two votes at least. Alternatively I suggest Gecko Genetics 101.

"Hot as hell" in Austin come June, you say? What about now? Temps for Easter are forecast to be near 100 F and at 100 F for 4/17 and 4/18! Ouch!! Pacific Northwesterners just aren't used to that, so you might find me right next to a big fan with a tequila sunrise or two

It's going to be really cool to finally meet you and even to hear you speak :D
