N. levis levis love to dig, so ensure that you have plenty of sand in the bottom of your tank. Feeding for hatchlings is approx 3 or 4 smallish crickets each, roughly every second day but this can vary.
I include a small dish of water for mine, but misting once or twice a week (especially against the glass or rocks, etc, so that they can lap it) is also recommended.
Ensure that the geckos have a safe place to hide (mine also have a fake tunnel system which is placed against the glass so that they can hide, yet I can still view them without disturbing them).
Heating can be provided if you feel they require it (especially if they are younger animals). Mine also have UV during the day for approx. 6 hours, but I dont know if they have ever used it.
Make sure their enclosure is not in direct sun as this may 'cook' them during the heat of the day (obviously, use your own common sense on this).

Have I covered all the basics here?
Anyone else care to add?

cheers,

hi, thanks for that geckohunter. my question was a bit misleading though. what i really wanted to know is what 'geckos' would you guys recommend for a starter/begginer. i have levis at the moment so anything besides that. thanks anyway

Milii, Bynoe's and Marbled Geckos are all the best starter geckos apart from Levis. If you feel like you could handle more of a challenging Gecko, try some Strophurus and Oedura. Maybe Strophurus Ciliaris, Intermedius and Oedura Marmorata. I have kept Oedura Marmorata and they are relatively simple but need heating, as do the strophurus listed but the top 3 do not require heating. I have noticed various adds that you are posting, after the Amyae. Not to be mean, but I think that they may be abit advanced as they are quite abit more temperamentle. Hope this helps

thanks shawn. what do you mean by tempermentle. i have done lots of rresearch and already have everything needed for amyae. i have plenty of stuff like cages, heating, substrate, etc so all those oeduras, strophrurus, etc shouldnt be a problem. i have had levis for a while and although they are probably easier to look after i dont see what is that much harder about amyae. could you help me out here, thanks for contributing, cheers

By temperamentle, I mean skittish and much more defensive than Levis. I have a few friends in SA that keep both, Amyae and Levis and they say that Amyae are harder to keep but by harder I guess he could have just meant that they are skittish etc. Thanks for your contribution to my topic, the northern Velvet, wanted. I wish you all the best in getting either your Amyae or Strophurus, Oedura or what ever you decide to get but I suggest, Milii.
Cheers
