Finally finished my Klemmeri cage... sorta

ok,
here is my temp klemmeri cage, as they are coming tomorrow, and I dont have my exo terra yet.
I used 2 bamboo piecces, cut them to length, then drilled a hole in the top of one side, and cut a 3 inch chunk off the bottom. Then, I broke the connection piece, making it one hollow tube. That one should be great for basking.
For the smaller piece, I just cut the bottom off, tilted it a bit, and made it a perfect little shelter.

For plants, I used 4 different species. I have vines and pothos crawling on the bamboo, as well some 2 species planted in there, including the snake plants.

I used cocofiber bedding.

for lights, I am using a florescent and a heat lamp for a basking spot.

this is just the temp cage, it is a 15 gallon, and will be huge for them, but nice. I know it seems kinda empty, but I think it will be ok for them.

i think it needs more plants *nods* looks like a good start, but i suggest plants, and a few diagonal thinner bamboo sticks. what are you using to hold the bamboo up?

however, as it is a temporary cage, i do think its current settings should be fine :D good luck with the Klemmeri :D:D:D

I still have 6 more feet bamboo, I am saving for the exo terra. Also, 12x12 isnt a lot of floor space, thats why I only have 4 plants in there.

I cut the bamboo perfectly and wedged it in there.

agreed, 12x12 isnt a lot :p

did it take a lot of force to get the bamboo in? be careful not to stress the glass. i learned the hard way.

when my exo terra arrives, I will use a few more peices of bamboo, I may go pick up another snake plant if I have room, and orchid bark over the cocofiber.

Thanks everyone, ill get pics later today of them when they arrive

wedged bamboo can possibly crack the glass over time. I cut mine a hair short and then wrap the ends with a small amount of masking tape I crush the tape on the end of the bamboo and slide it in up against the glass making sure it's loose but tight enough to stay up. Cage looks fine for a few days or even weeks.

temp wise, I am at mid 70s on the side away from the UVB.

under the light, the little bamboo is at 83, and the longer basking bamboo is at 89

how does this sound?

night time temps would be in the low-mid 70's.

any advice for the temps?

That should be fine, Peter.

If you were looking to adjust it a bit, I would say add 5 degrees F to all the above mentioned spots.

Night time temps down to the low 70's are no problem, but you might add a little heat pad to the side so they can warm up at night if they want to. THis is especially good for gravid females. They should be able to warm themselves up to over 90F whenever they choose - night or day

This looks more than great for temp cage.

Yes, if you want to give them an extra basking spot, a little heat tape on the side of the cage works even better than getting stronger bulbs.

I fix my horizontal bamboos in the following way.
I take two plastic bottle caps, cut one side away, glue the plastic caps to the glass (with the cut part facing up) with some two sided adhesive tape (the white, thick kind of tape, that holds well even with heat and humidity), cut the bamboo piece in the right size and put it into the caps on the glass, so it rests rather firmly. You can also fix it with a small piece of cork or something similar.
I hope you understand my complicated explanation. You can see this in the photo of my klemmeri enclosure in the other thread.
