Hi together,

I could yesterday observe like one female was digging in the laying box, like she would like to lay eggs, though she hasn't ever seen a male ... :? ?!

Tonight the same game ..., all the night ...?!

Is this usuall ... ?! She is semi-adult, around 26 gramm and really has never seen a male

Could it be that she has build nevertheless eggs ...?! If it would be, would that disturb her in her developpement, growth ...

Thanks & Regards
Peter

Could it be that she has build nevertheless eggs

Hi Peter,

yes that's possible. Cresties do lay waxeggs as well.
One of my virgin females did the same. But the eggs were realy small compared to normal eggs.
So I don't think it will disturb the growth too much.
By the way: The female did it only one time.

Greetings from Germany, Johannes
PS: Sehen wir uns diesen September in Hamm?

Hallo Johannes ;),

Thanks for reply! Yeas you were right: Indeed, she did lay two eggs! Hmm, but so small are these eggs not, 2,4 and 2,2 cm length ... Not well-rounded and soft, but anyway, they can't be anything else than waxeggs (one calls them in english as well like that  ).

But I really wonder if it won't handicap her in her growths ... What's the great difference to fertilezed eggs ...? And people all around are stressing out not to put male and female together before age of 1 Year or/and 35 gramms because of the eggs production and the energy the female needs for that which let stop her growth and developpent ...

So I don't think it will disturb the growth too much.

I'm nevertheless a little worried ...

Anybody an idea why this happened, what makes her provacate to create eggs without ever seen a man ...

Greetings from Switzerland
Peter

The only positiv thing is, that she was laying her eggs in the pot which is thought for laying eggs!!! Hopefully, she remembers when she starts once to lay fertilized eggs ....
