I love your avatar! Best wishes in your quest for fertile P klemmeri eggs ;-} Two other ideas about laying sites: Some folks split the bamboo and tape it back together; others take a small baby food jar with a toilet paper roll stuck upright with moss in the jar. What type of music are you playing for your pair?

I'm wondering what Joe Farah does for his klemmeri?

Mine did this earlier this week, but mine are just getting of age. If only I could get a male for them. Also, my P. dubia did this today. Sometimes Phelsuma will lay dud eggs before cranking out bundles of good ones.

I sure hope that happens, although I still highly doubt i'll get too many eggs, but thats the sacrafice I made when buying this pair. Anways if you ever wanna sell a female, I could always use the young blood for my male.

I assume she is pretty old, correct?

I'd bet my next paycheck that's the problem.

I know you said the guy who sold them to you told you she was only 3, but you don't know that for sure. Maybe she's 5 - how would you know?

When you first told me you were getting an adult pair of klemmeri, my initial thought was, "Who would be willing to part with an adult pair?" I remember thinking, "Whats wrong with them?" and "Maybe the female is old and past her prime". Thats the type of skepticism you need to make automatic whenever you are buying something from someone - even a used car! It's just that they're so hard to get and its hard for me to imagine that someone would readily part with a healthy, young, egg-producing pair of adult klemmeri. I know I wouldn't part with my breeders! The only one I would think of selling is my oldest female. She is about 3-4 years old and already is laying more dud eggs than fertile ones. But you can bet I would tell the buyer that!

The pics of your female that I have seen make me think she is 4-5 yrs old and that could mean that much of her egg production is behind her. I've kinda suspected that the whole time, but didn't want to dash your hopes. I figured we'd just wait and see and hopefully she'll drop some good eggs. Maybe she will - who knows. Give her plenty of calcium. D3, UV and even a bit of natural sunlight, and maybe she'll give you a few good eggs per year.

You need to start being more suspicious about deals that seem too good to be true. I've heard nothing but good things about the guy you bought those klemmeri from, but still... When it comes to buying reptiles online it pays to be cautious.

I can't help you with a young adult female, but I will be able to sell you some juvies in a couple of months if you want. You could raise them up and hope for a female or two - which you'll surely get because of my incubation temps.

Keep your head up dude! Your female maybe past her prime, but you're just coming into yours! You've got decades of time ahead of you. Just focus forward -> I would try to sell that female and turn her into some juvies. They mature quick and you could have a newly breedable female by this winter if you play your cards right.

- Get some juvies and raise them up. You'll be happy you did.

danscantle,

I have a couple of juvies that I'm holding back and raising up. They are only about 3 months old now, but in another few months they will be sexable. If I get a male I will offer him to you first before I post him for sale. Hopefully you will have found one by then, but if not I should be able to help you.

oh I knew she wouldnt be good when I bought her, I just bought them because I really like them. All I am hoping for is one good clutch, thats what I said when I bought them. I hopefully have more females lined up, ones about 12 months old or less.

Don't feel like your alone

I've got 2.2 and I know for sure there over 10. I've had them over a year and gotten a few bad eggs. Just hoping for some good ones.
