Yes it is possible for any large particle of most substances to cause impaction. I am wondering what reason your adult would be in contact with pearlite though.
i changed the lay box that i had in there and was trying to figure out a different substrat to use i was using a petit moss befor and it was makeing the egs turn a brown ish color
Ya peat moss can do that i suggest coconut fibre substrate and an approx. 50/50 pearlite vermiculite mixfor incubation. Animals tend not to take well to laying in an unnatural substrate and will frequently lay outside the box rather than in such a medium.
