I was just wondering if its possible to sex my two henks. They are about six months at the moment. Personaly i find it very difficult to notice any differences between them, so maybe they are the same sex?

they are too young to sex. signs of the hemipenes dropping wont be evident until approximately 1 year in age. that first one is the spitting image of several of the henks i hatched out last year though, all of which turned out male. so to be safe, i wouldnt mark those as female just yet.

I would offer that the second looks like a possible female based on subtleties of pattern, and second that it may be too early to tell from the cloacal standpoint. I should add that with regard to sex and pattern, "%70 of the time, you can tell every time." Henks are great animals regardless.

Thanks for the replies. I'm guessing that no 2 is a female, based on the pattern. No 1 is a bit more difficult... Since they come from different bloodlines it would be nice if they turn out 1.1, but if they are 0.2 it would not be a total disaster either :D

Here is an update to this thread. All pics bellow are of animal no 2 above... what do you think, a possible male?

pattern looks female to me. the vent area is slighty raised, but at this point it is hard to tell. some of my mature females had a slightly raised vent area..but when compared to a mature male there was a large difference. however i have had males drop after the year mark. in the last picture the hemipene pouch area looks defined, he might be on the verge of becoming mature. one thing i noticed in my collection is that once a small bulge appears it developes pretty quickly. imo im leaning towards male.
