2 is there any special weight the fems should be at? since i know with leos and cresties theres always a recomended weight for breeding
3 is egg binding in the mossys/satanics or any of leaf tails common?

1. It has been known to happen, thier mouths turn out gray.
2. Mine are at 31.5gand 31.9g.
3. I have found egg binding in fresh WC sikorae to be common, once in captivity I feed mine high levels of calcium and the problem seems to dissipate, I've had my females for over a year w/o any egg binding issues, in any Uroplatus.
4. soft soil for digging/burring the egsg, a secluded dark corner you don't bother, semi-damp soil.

I'm sorry to dig up such an old thread, but i was wondering the same thing. Can U.s.s breed with U.s. sameiti? I purchased 2 sikorae and the importer sent me two sameiti. I have a breeding pair now, since he sent me male and female, but i had desired and asked for U. Sikorae.
Now i have 2 female U.s.s and a breeding pair of U.s.sameiti.

What is the general price difference between the two? (U.s.sameiti and U.s.sikorae)
Is one more difficult/desired?

i have urgent reasons for needing an immediate response to this question. If needbe, I will create a new post to generate more responses.

I have recently purchased a pair of sikoraes that turned out to be sameitis and I need to make a decision as to whether or not to return them. If they are worth more as sameitis, I will keep them and breed them. If they can also breed with my u.s.sikoraes, I will surely keep them.

Please, immediate help is needed!

They could possibly breed between the sub species but my personal views on this, is to keep them separate. The Sameitis are from a different part of Madagascar than the normal Sikorae, thus meaning higher temperatures lower humidity I believe. Do some reading up on the differences between Sameitis and Sikorea there is a plethora of good information on this site.

As for their values it really depends on the person. Sameitis could be seen as a little more valuable since fewer are imported. Once the importing stops I would love to have an established colony of both available so we don't loose these amazing animals.
