Juvenile standingi look amazing! Its to bad they dont stay that way, although they look nice as adults to.

thanks everyone I had to change the setup a bit tho the moss was not faring too well in the dry heat that the gecko lives in but I put more bamboo in there and it's loving it, it's still too small to sex but I am hoping for a female since they are usually a bit pricier but I got an awesome deal on this one $65 us

Really nice first Phelsuma!

This species is a little different that some of the others in that it comes from a hot and arid region - succulent woodlands/forest. So their captive care differs slightly as they do not need it as humid as others and they do have some seasonality in their native habitat (dry season and wet season).

One of a few good places for information specifically about this species and its needs can be found here http://www.phelsumaweb.com/eng/standingi_care.html.

You are well ahead of me... sorry for missing this information on their drier climate.

Glad it proved to be interesting. Again, I think you made a great choice. This is an overlooked species, but has fascinating behaviour. Let us know how it goes.

how old do these guys need to be before sexing is possible?mine is nearing the 5 month mark and I was just wondering because I have yet to see any pores but it might still be too soon

You should definitely be seeing some pores and yellow shading around the pore area by now if you have a male. Sounds like you got a girl! Congrats
