first off the q.. do satanics tails grow back? i ask because my male that just arrived today lost his tail :( so i was just wondering if they grew back or not.. anyways i got a pair of satanics today to put with my fem once i quarentine and make sure they are healthy. i also ordered a mossy but sadly it didnt make it through shipping. on top of that it turned out to be a juvie finbriatus which made things better because i wanted to get a finbriatus at some point, but worse because s/he didnt make it for whatever reason(theres quite a few posibilities going through my head).. anyways here are some pictures of the male(first set) and female(second set) satanic

first off, the answer to your question: no, satanic taily do not regenerate (that i know of) :( shame really. but it will do little to the creature in terms of abilities

secondly: STUNNING animals. A real shame the male lost his tail, but such beautiful creatures, congratulations!

best of luck with them!

i kinda figured their tails didnt grow back but i figured id ask. i know it doesnt cause problems with how they get around and live as i have crested geckos(i know wayy totally differnt species) without tails that act just like the ones with tails.

thanks ^_^ i love thier colors especially the males as the people i got them from didnt have a picture of him up so i was wondering what he looked like.

from what ive seen when i had them out before putting them into their enclosures the female seems really mellow and the male is realy energetic and likes to jump alot.. now i just gotta work on getting them hydrated and make sure they are and stay healthy

First, beautiful animals. The male in particular is a real looker. Second, who did you purchase from? While they provided nice animals, it sounds like a lot went wrong. Having an animal mislabelled, having it die, and another lose its tail in unacceptable by most standards. This may be overstated if arrival was delayed by carrier error, but I once had somebody send me a pair of sikorae in an uninsulated un-heated container by 2 day mail in January - needless to say, the animals didn't do well. If any fishy stuff like that went on, you should be calling this person out - for the sake of other geckos that might pass through their hands. Anyway, it's sad for the animals and doesn't look good for us politically as reptile keepers in terms of our ability to care for exotic animals. Sorry for your loss, and again, congrats on great looking animals.

Best,

Beautiful looking Phants. I hope they do well for you. I'm kind of thinking along the same lines as Whodaplatus? as far as the seller and shipping methods:)

id just like to add at this point that we should not bring up the seller's name publicly, the geckophile forums are in no way a BOI, granted good sellers can get all the praise they want...but for other experiences, all information should be kept personal (either to yourself or via PM/email/phone to those you'd like to share info with).

for those who have animals shipped to them, i always strongly recommend they get their info on the seller. references, suggestions from others, etc. also, ask their guarantee (live arrival? 24 hour? 1 week?) and any other pertinent details concerning your order. most people selling uroplatus do a mere live arrival or 24 hour guarantee. no matter what, if you see an animal come in and you question its state of health whatsoever, call the seller and state your concerns. you dont want to wait for it to die to tell the seller, because it might be too late, and they are no help. but if your animal looks bad at all, call them and let them know. if you wanna get a replacement, that's fine. ive even asked for them to extend their life/health guarantees, and it has always worked to my advantage (at least for those companies/individuals i choose to do business with in the future).

so you suffered some tough losses. from what i saw of that fimbriatus, anyone who knew uroplatus wouldnt have sold that animal with any hopes of it surviving. but unfortunately, that's just the sad state of the reptile import/export/shipping process these days. wholesalers sell them out in bad shape, in turn some retailers try to get rid of those in bad shape to make a buck off them before they die.

anyway, i hope your satanics do well.

im not gonna say who i got them from but we did contact them about the fimbriatus not making it(and correcting the misidentification). if we dont hear from them by tomorrow night by phone/e-mail i am going to contact them again. Their packing was good though... insulated with a heat pack and padding so the containers werent thrown around in the box.

also the tail loss lookes to be an old injury weather it be before they were cought, durring capture and/or import/exportation, there is no fresh scab or anything indicating it was a recent injury on the lil nub.

the fimbriatus i had i doubts about surviving but i wanted to try to get it anyways.. if it did survive(i hoped it would) that would have been great but it didnt so theres not much i can do about it besides get my money back for it or get it replaced with something else(which they said they would do). either way im gonna do everything possible to make sure the satanics are healthy, get hydrated and acclimate well to their new home. hopefully once theres a clean bill of health and quarentine is over i will get some good lookin babies outta them
