Hey Everyone,
Just wondering what use use for your aussie geckos to lay eggs in. Do you use like a tupperwaire container and cut a hole on the top for them to go in, or do you just have a container filled to the top, and they just walk on in? Also what substrate do you use for them to lay in. I looking for info on Strophurus, Oedura, Nephrurus, and Diplodactylus. Thanks in advance!

my N. levis are kept on fine sand around 10cm deep. one side is kept moist for them to burrow in. when the females are gravid they will simply just dig a burrow to the bottom of the enclosure and lay their eggs. because they are kept in clear plastic/glass enclosures, i just look underneath to see where the eggs were laid. then i carefully dig em up and pop them in the incubator.
cheers, ian

Same here for my levis as well. I can always tell when my female levis are ready to lay because they start digging tunnels all over the place looking for the best spot.

Hi ~

For each pair of my 3.3 Oedura castelnaui I have a pint-sized rectangular Rubbermaid box filled with a moistened 50/50 mixture of cocopeat fiber and Jurassic Reptile Sand. I cut a quarter-sized hole in the lid towards the short side of the box. My Ocs seem to like this arrangement and always enter to dig and to lay their fertile eggs.

I use the tupperware screw on tops for my Oedura, all 5 species. With coco fiber in it moist enough. They have holes in the tops that are about the size of a quarter down to the size of a dime. Just remember not to have the substrate too wet. I have used sand, peat, vermiculite with succuess with all my geckos. Right now I just use coco fiber since I had some already.

I use the glad press and seal for my Nephrurus with a hole in THE SIDE of the container for my wheeleri, and a hole in the top for my amyae. With the wheeleri I just need about 2 1/2 inches of moistened sand. With the amyae I use about 3 1/2 inches of moistened sand. Just make sure with each of the substrates you don't have it TOO WET! They will not lay in the substrate usually if it's too wet.

Any questions or if you need pics, let me know by a PM. I can get you that stuff in a week or so.

Take Care,
Ken
