help on hatching N. levis

I'm having issues getting their eggs to hatch, and it is really hard to find in-depth advice on web pages. Can anyone share their information with me?

Good incubation temps?
Humidity?
Water/substrate ratios?
Temp fluctuations?
The best incubation medium to use?


I tried perilite and vermiculite mixed. I'm using a new hovabator, but I am wondering if just the room temperature fluctations might be the culprit. Tis the season to have a hot day one day and a cold day the other...


Thank you for any help. I'm feeling like a huge failure. =(

Hey Tara, I use a basic hovabator, gladware containers with a few pin holes, vermiculite in the good old standby 1:1 ratio by weight, and temps in the mid 80's. Levis eggs are really pretty tough. How old is your female? What issues exactly are you having with getting the eggs to hatch? How far along are they making it?

Glad cleo is doing well =)

The female is 3-4 years old and wasn't bred last season.

I'll make sure I am getting the 1:1 ratio exact. I could be keeping them too moist. Do you ever add water during the incubation process?

These last ones were dropped on september 8th. I checked them earlier this week and one had collapsed and began to yellow and mold. I checked again today and the other is beginning to collapse and get yellowish coloration. I was incubating them pretty dry, maybe too dry. =( The female is due to drop anytime now so I have another shot.

I have incubated bunches of agamid eggs and the like with great results but for some reason I seem to have a harder time with geckos.

You might want to try cooling them for a couple months and then try again. It might do the trick.
