Just put in an order for a male tokay hatchling! I will have it by weeks' end!:biggrin:I'll take some pics AFTER he becomes acclimated to his new enclosure.

Congrats, they sure are interesting to watch.

Got gloves for when he gets bigger?

Your welcome. I hope you enjoy him.

Stoph, you dont need gloves you just need to be quicker than they are :). I dont use gloves for anything, I have been bit by more things trying to use gloves just because it is hard to get good control.

well they both took a bite out of the petstore owner causing some bleeding so...I don't know first impression wasn't a good one.(it's also possible they hated him so much ;) )

Proper handling of Tokay

Cliff,
Can you give us a pic of how to 'hold' the gecko? I'd be grateful! Not to worry, I'm not doing so until next week!:)

I've kept tokay geckos for seven years and haven't even held one! I don't like handling herps if they don't like being handled.

Don't like to handle them and they certainly don't like it(barking, hissing) but if it's really necessary i wouldn't hesitate to grab them and move them. But at the moment i leave them in peace by transporting them inside their hiding place.

Well,
The time arrived. I handled Zeus for about 3minutes this evening. Let him crawl up my arm and jump into the other hand! I held him and he gaped his maw a few seconds, then closed it!:) It's good to get him used to me, as he AIN'T gonna be able to bite me when he's fully grown!
