Hi everyone! I picked up my first U.pietschmanni a couple of weeks ago. They are amazing geckos! He looks heathy and is active but this is the first one I have seen in person so dont know if he is a little skinny or not. Cant wait to find a female to pair him up with.

He is very pretty. He does look a little skinny and dehydrated. Make sure you mist him a lot.

I asked when I purchased him but they did not know. Are wc hard to aclamate? I also want to see what size terrarium everyone uses. I have him in a planted 40 gal terrarium, but I think I will move him to a smaller one so I can keep better track of what he is eating. Does anyone have other suggestions for keeping new animals?

40 gallon is fine for this species. You don't need it super humid in the enclosure for this species either. They tend to prefer slightly drier conditions in comparison to most uroplatus. for this species, I would recommend only spraying them once at night for moisture/drinking, anything more than that unless you are simulating a rainy reason is excessive.

Since its dehydrated, I would say its a WC animal. There was a recent import of some Uroplatus, not a large quantity but enough that they are floating about. you probably wont see very many loan females available as they are imported male heavy for the most part.

Thanks! I am not sure how old he is. He is 6 inches total langth so I dont know if he will get any longer but I'm sure he will bulk up a little. He is as agessive an eater as my crested's. I think he has settled into his new home just fine.

My old male pietschmanni is almost 7 inches and weights 26 grams so yours will defiantly bulk up.

Mine is like 6 years old also, so I guess he just is gaining weight slowly over time.
