I tried this in the hemidactylus forum, but I guess it's too basic a question to be answered there. So let me try here in the newbie forum.
I've got two young Mediterranean geckos that I acquired from the wild in, I think, November of 2007. They were hatchlings when I got them (it was very cold, at least for these parts, and I didn't know if they'd make it). In any event, I've had them for about three months now. They're in a 20 gallon aquarium, lined with paper towels which I change weekly, and they have plenty of oak twigs with leaves on which to climb (and in which they hang out most of the time). I mist them daily, and they have access to water at all times. I feed them crickets, which I gut-load before giving to them.
They eat well, and seem healthy. Yet they're growing very slowly. They're probably only a centimeter larger than they were when I got them. I'd guess they're about half the size of the adults I see all over the place when it's warm.
Any info about how quickly they grow? I've looked on the web, and haven't found anything too useful. It seems they grow for their first year, and their full length is about three inches or so; that's all I know. Any help?
TIA!
