Will Crested Geckos Keep Defining Markings from Hatchling to Adult?

Well I was thinking the other day...I want to breed crested geckos, but being the kind of person I am, I want to be able to monitor which baby is which. Well, I know that they change their overall color from hatchling to adult, but do they keep like certain "defining" markings, like say a certain black spot behind the left eye or a certain flame pattern on their back, or does this change, too? I just know this is how you monitor horses by charting their markings. Just thought it might work with cresteis. Thanks.

Once they are about 4 months old most of the markings will stay but the markings may get bigger or stretch out changing the shape of it. So its a bit hard to do it that way. I do something similar to what you were talking about. I don't worry about it tell they are 3-4 months old anyway. Since IMO they should not be sold younger than about this and I don't figure out my hold backs tell about then. But once they hit that age I split them up into mixed groups so there are none that are 2 alike in the same tank. Like at the moment I have a tiger, harley and a bi-color all in the same tank. There siblings are in a separate tank together. This way I know how they are developing and who is who w/ a quick glance.

Hope that helps a little.:D
