Leo is not shedding

My son bought this leo some time this past summer (summer of 2007) and was not taking care of him the way I thought he should so I have adopted him and absolutely fallen head over heals in love! Been doing a lot of reading and learning. I brought him to a warmer location in our home and have proper heat lamps about a month or so ago and I have yet to see him shed. He has a log hide and a man-made half shell hide with different levels he can climb onto to get higher or lower in the tank for heat/cool phases. And he has a water dish. I have been using slate as my substrate on the warm side and a fine layer of sand covered with paper towels on the cool side (where he poops). Should I be misting him or the paper toweling? I monitor the heat all day long and it ranges from 80 to 90 on the warm side and 70 - 80 on the cool side. Any help is appreciated!

Leopard geckos eat their skin when they shed every few weeks. I'm sure yours is shedding... he's just doing a good job at eating the shed!

Thank you! I figured that must be what is happening but I haven't even noticed him going pale or anything to indicate that he's about to shed.
I have one more question, I never see him drink. He must be drinking during the night. He poops every day but I don't seem to see pee. Is this normal? His poop is quite moist when he first poops and then dries up -- is he peeing at the same time he's pooping? Quite the conversation, eh?? LOL!

Thanks for your help! He continues to grow and his tail gets fatter and fatter so I'm thinking things are good -- just worrying like the mom that I am!

Leopard Geckos do not urinate like warm blooded animals do. The white stuff you see in their feces are urates. Occasionally, geckos will 'pee' when they are well hydrated... and it's usually on you!
